#voestalpinetalks at the Montanuniversity in Leoben
- 2
The #voestalpinetalks at the Montanuniversität not only offer students exciting insights, but also get our employees to reminisce about their own student days. Hans Peter F., Vice President at voestalpine BÖHLER Edelstahl, was a student at the Montanuniversität in Leoben in 1979 and can now proudly talk about his professional career after graduating in materials science. He told the students about an important technological milestone in the production of future-oriented high-performance materials: the construction and opening of the new special steel plant in Kapfenberg, which plays a pioneering role worldwide in terms of digitalization and sustainability. The first tapping in particular gave F. a feeling of joy and pride that continues to this day:
The special steel plant in Kapfenberg is the most modern in the world and meets the most advanced Industry 4.0 standards: around 8,000 process data are continuously recorded, implemented and evaluated in parallel. All melting processes are controlled via a central control station and 205,000 tons of special steels can be produced annually in full operation for the most demanding customer segments.
The second lecture at #voestalpinetalks was given by Nika Triebe, who is known as a bestselling author and speaker on the subject of communication. She gave the students exciting tips for conversations, such as when applying for jobs, in meetings and also for more difficult communication topics.
Afterwards, the participants were able to exchange ideas with other students and our employees and gain initial insights into a possible career path with us. Our exhibition stand with our employees from the areas of technology and HR made it possible to make contacts and get to know graduates of the University of Leoben, as more than 500 graduates of the top university in Austria are currently employed by us. The #voestalpinetalks are therefore a sign of a long-standing partnership between us and the Montanuniversität Leoben.
